A Little History About Country Boy's Cookin' BBQ
Owners and Military Veterans Opie and Michelle Gallett were both stationed at Robins AFB in 1989. On a whim they decided to visit the Big Pig Jig BBQ Cook Off in Vienna Georgia . . . that's when the BBQ Cook off bug bit Opie and the rest is history, still in the making.
Opie was born and raised in the panhandle of Texas so smoking meat for 14 to 16 hours is an accepted family tradition. After he retired from the USAF in 2000 he and his wife Michelle bought a home in Unadilla, Georgia.
Opie and Michelle began developing their award winning BBQ by getting together with a couple of their best friends and competing at the Big Pig Jig BBQ Cook Off.
Opie says of their first competition, "It felt great, to compete and do something that you love. Everyone who stopped by our site and tasted our BBQ absolutely loved it, whether it was the pulled pork, ribs or chicken. They all said that the best part of these BBQ Cook Off's is eating it right off the grill."
They have competed at numerous Contests and Cook Offs since then and have consistently won awards for their famous, mouth-watering BBQ.
In 2006 they opened the Country Boy's Cookin' BBQ restaurant in Michelle's home town of Unadilla, Georgia.
They have customers from all over the United States that stop in, eat and get some BBQ for the road. Once you eat at Country Boy's Cookin' BBQ, you'll be back.
Hope to see ya soon. Opie & Michelle
